Please send in your letters or emails to try and stop this travesty. The council voted on Wednesday and whilst it was passed to the next stage it wasn't a huge majority 31 for and 24 against. The council need to listen to those that love our historic park. The way they treated us in the gallery was appalling. Scoffing at our numbers when they hadn't allowed the rest of the public into the gallery and they'd been shoved in a side room and calling us Bourgeois!! Bloody Cheek! Whitewebbs and Forty Hill Estate was the playground of my Childhood. My friends and I used to escape the council estate we lived on and cross the A.10 starting at The Dell and walk for miles exploring, climbing trees and catching newts in the river. You could walk for miles without prevention and we did. We would make dens! paddle and get covered in mud. If football was played you had Enfield Playing Fields for that! Once it came for us to fly the nest it was our biggest ambition to own our own house and choose where we lived. We worked two jobs each and scrimped and saved to buy a humble flat. No Council list for us! I've lived in every part of Enfield and worked in every postcode from Wood Green,Tottenham,Edmonton through to Waltham Cross. I paid a high price to live close to the Green Fields of my childhood. Does that make me Bourgeois? NO! It makes me hardworking and driven. Football is not everyone's passion. It isn't mine. What about the Walkers? The huge dog walking community ? the Cyclists, the Running clubs, the Horseriders and maybe the Golfers if the land gets used for that. Why deprive these diverse communities of their space in favour of one sport! Denying access to every nook and cranny of the ancient woodlands that house hundreds of animals and bird species and plants. Women's football deserves attention but let THFC find a more suitable place to erect their fences and lay their pitches.
